Taking the Time

It seems that God has been sending me a message lately. It’s a message that I’ve known for some time but I just haven’t acted on what it. The message is: He wants me to spend more time with him! Now, I know how basic that sounds. Lately, I just haven’t been taking the time to spend with Him.

It seems that everyone I talk to is saying have you spent enough time with God? Every sermon I’ve heard lately is about spending time with God. I read people’s blogs and they say to spend time with Him. Why can’t I just take the hint?

I can say that I do read the Bible every day but I don’t think I am actually taking in what I read. I’m in a contest with myself to see if I can read the Bible everyday and finish it within a year. Well, I’m going to win this contest. I started reading last May and I will be down in about a week. It’s not a bad thing to read everyday but it is bad that I don’t take in what I read. I read just to read.

I’ve known ever since I went to SALT that I needed to spend more time with God and for awhile I was doing just that. Lately, I haven’t been spending the time that I should in His presence. It seems that things always get in the way. I need to study, I have homework, I need to visit with friends, the TV is on, and whatever else is going on. Excuses, excuses, excuses. I just need to put God in my top priorities.

Are you like me? Never taking the time to spend with God? Let me tell you this: He wants you to spend time with Him. If you take the time to spend with Him he’ll show you so many things!

So take that time today to spend with Him.

"Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience."

Hebrews 10:22

Spring is here!

Could Spring Really Be Here?

This morning I woke up to the sun streaming down through my blinds. Is there possibly a better way to wake up?

It seems that Spring really could be here. I just hope it's not a trick.

I got stuck in classes all day so I couldn't be outside to enjoy the beautiful weather.

It seemed like the perfect day. Not too hot, not too cold.

It also seemed like the perfect day to go for a run. The wind would cool you down when you started to sweat.

Too bad I'm lazy.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

I realized today that I am starting to grow up. I didn't get a chance to go home this weekend because I had to work. So that meant no getting up early and looking for my easter basket. Or looking for hidden easter eggs. I didn't even get to color any eggs this year!

So today instead I went to work, ate a nice Easter meal there and came back to my dorm and took an hour nap. I did get a pleasant surprise though. Aaron got me a huge Easter basket! It had tons of candy plus a baseball set, two squirt guns, and a golf set. Really, I think he might have gotten it so he could play with all the toys. ;)

We decided to go to Perkins to eat our "easter supper." Let me say that our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. I ordered a ham omelet with hash browns and 3 pancakes. After it was all said and done I think I ate about 1/4 of one pancake.

All in all it was a good day.

Impatient Generation

Josh Amiot spoke at Chi Alpha tonight. He's a missionary from Mexico City. He talked about how God has a plan for each and every one of us and also a plan for us as a group. He really was encouraging.

He said this one thing that I had to sit and think about: I will need to know what I need to know when I need to know it. Did you get that? People my age want to know everything now. We're so impatient. At least I know I am. The truth is we couldn't handle knowing everything God has for us. That's why God gives us a little bit at a time.

Uno Attack

I really don't know what write at this moment but I feel like I need to post something. Isn't that how it always is? We really want to write something so people will come, read, and post a comment.

I really had a great time being at home. I got to see a lot of people that I haven't seen in a few months. I got to spend quality time with my mom, which was really needed. It was actually hard to come back to school because I feel bad leaving her. Especially when I know she needs God and it's hard not to be there for her.

I also got to spend time with my future family-in-law. Talk about fun! They are just so great. How many families can you play uno blast with and have a great time? Now come on. That's rare. I know, we are pathetic. I just get a kick out of them. They're like that family that I never had. :)

Plus, they have this dog that they pretend they hate but I know they would be upset if she died. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for cute dogs?

Food

Here I am in Bemidji, again. Spring break went by so fast that it really seems like I was never home at all. I did get a lot of wedding things done though. The most important: the dress! I found a dress at David’s Bridal. I would explain it but I’m sure Aaron will read this and I don’t want to ruin the surprise.

I would have to say that the best part of being home was the food. Since moving to Bemidji I haven’t eaten a good thing for about 3 months. Or at least healthy. Every night we ate something good, from veggie pizza (that I made) to steak.

I’m glad there’s only a few months left of school.

Spring Break?

I noticed today that my spring break is really no break at all. Most spring breaks you get to go home for a week and just relax. I haven't relaxed at all. Since getting engaged the word relax isn't in my vocabulary. Don't get me wrong, I know these wedding things need to be done. In fact, I'd rather spend this week working on them than trying to do it during school. Ugh. That wouldn't be good at all. Plus, on Saturday I get to spend all day in Duluth looking for a dress. How fun! And Duluth has one of the best things ever: fried ice cream! Mmmm...

So that takes care of Spring Break for now.

Who knows what could happen the rest of the week?

My favorite dog, Gina.

Thursday, March 10, 2005

dogs are fun

I saw a dog that looked like a dog, Gina, I know from back home. It got me to thinking about the times that we would tie things to her tail and watch as she would freak out when she noticed that something was following her. Now, you might think this is mean but she wasn't hurt in the slightest, except maybe mentally.

She's pretty stupid though.

I'm sure she doesn't remember a thing.

Blah, blah, blah

So, not much happened today. I just wanted to post, even if it is about nothing. I went to class, which was pointless. I just got done studying for a test that I have tomorrow morning. It's all about bones. I found out the reason that we're having a test tomorrow is because a lot of people have been skipping class. It just happens that I could be one of those people. I can admit it, I am a skipper.

Sean Smith

So, this weekend I was in Duluth to see Sean Smith. He was so amazing. God used him in a mighty way this weekend. I believe that he spoke to many people including me. He talked about prophetic evangelism. I never really understood what prophetic evangelism was until this weekend. Prophetic evangelism is information from God given in a spontaneous way through an individual who yields themselves to God. There are so many other things about prophetic evangelism that could be said but that could take all day. Let me just say that it's an amazing thing. God is amazing! :)

There was one point during worship when I was at the altar and my knees were shaking so bad I thought for sure I was going to fall down. Now, for some of you that could be normal but I have never felt God's presence so strongly. Man, I loved it!

Happy

Tomorrow is the big day. Retreat! I am so excited to get to know these girls and guys better. It's going to be a great weekend. Plus, some friends from Hib-town are coming. So I am excited! Yeesss... I am such a happy girl.

Oh and I passed a test today. I passed a test that I really REALLY needed to pass. It's been a good day.

There's prayer tonight but I don't know I am going to go or not? I have a ton of stuff to do tonight before tomorrow comes.

Free pizza

Tonight we went to the last night of free pizza at the Green Mill. If you buy a pop you get free pizza. Which really isn't a bad deal. I mean free pizza with a $2 pop! Nice!

I can say that I wasn't really impressed with the service. Our waitress was great but the rest of the people working there seemed clueless on what was going on. When we walked in the first person we met said that the Wed. night free pizza thing was still going on but had changed. We're like, "How did it change?" She had no idea. She told us to go talk to the bartender. The bartender was on the phone so we decided to just sit down at a table. Our waitress came over and we asked her what had changed and she had no idea. She had to go ask someone and found out nothing had changed. I swear the people that were working today had no idea what was going on! You would think that since the Green Mill had been around since 1935 they would know what's going on. Oh well.

The pizza was good and it was free. You can't beat that.

Blessed

I went to Chi Alpha tonight. It’s really great to have a campus ministry that I can connect with.

God called these people to come from Duluth and start a Chi Alpha here in Bemidji. They open up their home to anyone that might want to get away from college life. They are wonderful people.

I have this great fiancé that has incredible patience with me. Believe me I don’t deserve it. He’s just great!

I truly am blessed.
